If you want to cycle locally, there is a network of cycle paths and routes available. Following the riverside paths gives you a quiet, scenic cycle that’s loved by locals. Or, take in the woods at McDonald, or the open spaces at Gordon Park. The old railway viaduct on the Formartine & Buchan Way is a fantastic example of Victorian engineering and a great place to take in the views from Ellon.

- Heading North –Auchnagatt (23km round trip): This route provides great views across the Formartine countryside. The local shop in Auchnagatt is a great place to stock up on supplies before you head back or if you are continuing further north.
- Heading South–Udny Station (16km round trip): Cycle across the impressive Victorian viaduct as you head south passing through rich Formartine farmland and open countryside. With hedgerows supporting birdlife this is a great option for nature lovers. Check out a local hotel for refreshments.
